Metrics & Measurement

Share of Model

The percentage of AI-generated answers within a defined set of prompts where a brand appears, measured across one or more models.

Share of Model is a metric that quantifies how much of an AI model's answer space a brand occupies for a defined set of prompts. It is calculated by running a representative prompt set, often called a Gold Set, across one or more AI platforms and measuring the share of responses in which the brand is mentioned, recommended, or cited.

Unlike a single-platform mention count, Share of Model is designed to be tracked over time and across models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity, because each model can return very different results for the same query. It is the AI-era equivalent of share of voice.

Share of Model is volatile. Model updates can shift results week to week, so the most important prompts deserve frequent sampling rather than one-off measurement. It is the central outcome metric in a GEO audit and the clearest signal of whether AEO work is improving real visibility.
